What Would Jesus Do?

What Will You Do?

God’s Grace

Grace is God choosing to bless us rather than curse us for our sin. Grace is favor or kindness given to mankind when we deserve God’s wrath and judgement. If it wasn’t for God’s Grace and Mercy toward us, Christ would have never gone to the Cross to die for our sins. Grace opens the door to our Salvation if we repent of our sins and place our faith in Christ’s Death and Resurrection.

9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation (Romans 10:9 New American Standard Bible 1995).

3 Be gracious to me, O Lord,
For to You I cry all day long.
4 Make glad the soul of Your servant,
For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
5 For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive,
And abundant in lovingkindness to all who call
upon You.
6 Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer;
And give heed to the voice of my supplications!
7 In the day of my trouble I shall call upon You,
For You will answer me (Psalm 86:3–7 New American Standard Bible 1995).

1 The Lord is my shepherd,
I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside quiet waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He guides me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil;
My cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever (Psalm 23:1–6 New American Standard Bible 1995).

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91:1 New American Standard Bible 1995).

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5–6 New American Standard Bible 1995).

14 If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14 New American Standard Bible 1995).

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast (Ephesians 2:8–9 New American Standard Bible 1995).

9 “Pray, then, in this way:
‘Our Father who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 ‘Your kingdom come.
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 ‘Give us this day our daily bread.
12 ‘And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 ‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.’] (Matthew 6:9–13 New American Standard Bible 1995).

22 He who finds a wife finds a good thing
And obtains favor from the Lord (Proverbs 18:22 New American Standard Bible 1995).

Wisdom and Power

God delights to give wisdom to those who truly seek it. He promises to generously give to all who ask, and without reproach. And it will be given to him. Wisdom helps us make wise decisions and stay on a straight and narrow path. It helps us discern right from wrong. In doing so, it empowers us to live a victorious life as we apply God’s Word every step of the way. To do otherwise, we waste precious time and energy on things that could have been avoided had we put in the time and effort. Always remember, there is wisdom in a multitude of counsel. Pray and seek God’s Will every step of the way.

36 For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? (Mark 8:36 New American Standard Bible 1995).

33 The fear of the Lord is the instruction for wisdom,
And before honor comes humility (Proverbs 15:33 New American Standard Bible 1995).

16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16–17 New American Standard Bible 1995).

12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart (Hebrews 4:12 New American Standard Bible 1995).

13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13 New American Standard Bible 1995).

5 I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing (John 15:5 New American Standard Bible 1995).

8 My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples (John 15:8 New American Standard Bible 1995).

3 Do two men walk together unless they have made an appointment? (Amos 3:3 New American Standard Bible 1995).

Forgiveness

The greatest example of forgiveness comes from God. He forgives us based on the sacrifice of Christ’s Death on the Cross. We are then required to confess our sin, turn from it, and place our faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord. God is compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in love to us all. A perfect example for us to follow. Forgiveness opens the door to healing and transformation. It can only be found where there is true confession.

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23 New American Standard Bible 1995).

14 For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you (Matthew 6:14 New American Standard Bible 1995).

21 For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, 22 who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth; 23 and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously (1 Peter 2:21–23 New American Standard Bible 1995).

29 Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. 30 Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you (Ephesians 4:29–32 New American Standard Bible 1995).

4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things (1 Corinthians 13:4–7 New American Standard Bible 1995).

Trials and Difficulties

One of the hardest lessons in becoming a disciple of Christ is to learn that all the trials in our lives have a divine purpose. God actually uses them to work all things together for good. In fact, the Bible tells us to consider it all joy when we encounter various trials, knowing that with a correct perspective, God uses them to transform us into His likeness. And without being transformed into His likeness, how can we expect to fulfill our ministry for His Glory? You can’t. It’s not possible.

1 “Man, who is born of woman,
Is short-lived and full of turmoil (Job 14:1 New American Standard Bible 1995).

2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him (James 1:2–5 New American Standard Bible 1995).

8 I have set the Lord continually before me;
Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken (Psalm 16:8 New American Standard Bible 1995).

11 You will make known to me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever (Psalm 16:11 New American Standard Bible 1995).

22 strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying, “Through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.” (Acts 14:22 New American Standard Bible 1995)

1 What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members? 2 You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures (James 4:1–3 New American Standard Bible 1995).

12 Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:12–14 New American Standard Bible 1995).

1 As He passed by, He saw a man blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him (John 9:1–3 New American Standard Bible 1995).

7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9 Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. 10 So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith (Galatians 6:7–10 New American Standard Bible 1995).

9 And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 10 Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong (2 Corinthians 12:9–10 New American Standard Bible 1995).

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us (Romans 8: 18 New American Standard Bible 1995).

28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. 29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; 30 and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified. 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? (Romans 8:28–31 New American Standard Bible 1995).

35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 Just as it is written,
“For Your sake we are being put to death all day long;
We were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:35–39 New American Standard Bible 1995).

18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men (Romans 12:18 New American Standard Bible 1995).

Healing and Maturity

Healing is one of the keys to maturing as a Christian. We all fall short of the Glory of God. Therefore, we must search our hearts before God in order to recognize our shortcomings. Without a true relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ, you are completely powerless to effectively transform your life. It is only when a person becomes born-again and receives from God a new nature that he or she can truly change.

19 This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed (John 3:19–20 New American Standard Bible 1995).

3 Keeping away from strife is an honor for a man,
But any fool will quarrel (Proverbs 20:3 New American Standard Bible 1995).

2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, 3 being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace (Ephesians 4:2–3 New American Standard Bible 1995).

5 but for Cain and for his offering He had no regard. So Cain became very angry and his countenance fell. 6 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? 7 If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.” (Genesis 4:5–7 New American Standard Bible 1995).

22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves (James 1:22 New American Standard Bible 1995).

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law (Galatians 5:22–23 New American Standard Bible 1995).

9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God (Matthew 5:9 New American Standard Bible 1995).

58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord (1 Corinthians 15:58 New American Standard Bible 1995).

7 For we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7 New American Standard Bible 1995).

21 I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly.” (Galatians 2:21 New American Standard Bible 1995).

6 “Forsake your folly and live,
And proceed in the way of understanding.” (Proverbs 9:6 New American Standard Bible 1995).

17 The merciful man does himself good,
But the cruel man does himself harm (Proverbs 11:17 New American Standard Bible 1995).

18 There is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing (Proverbs 12:18 New American Standard Bible 1995).

18 Poverty and shame will come to him who neglects discipline, but he who regards reproof will be honored (Proverbs 13:18 New American Standard Bible 1995).

15 A gentle answer turns away wrath,
But a harsh word stirs up anger (Proverbs 15:1 New American Standard Bible 1995).

20 Listen to counsel and accept discipline,
That you may be wise the rest of your days (Proverbs 19:20 New American Standard Bible 1995).

11 All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness (Hebrews 12:11 New American Standard Bible 1995).

18 In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.
19 This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; 20 for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God (James 1:18–20 New American Standard Bible 1995).

17 And the work of righteousness will be peace,
And the service of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever (Isaha 32:17 New American Standard Bible 1995).

14 Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the hearers (2 Timothy 2:14 New American Standard Bible 1995).

11 When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things (1 Corinthians 13:11 New American Standard Bible 1995).

21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22 But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose. 23 But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; 24 yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake (Philippians 1:21–24 New American Standard Bible 1995).

3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others (Philippians 2:3–3 New American Standard Bible 1995).

9 How can a young man keep his way pure?
By keeping it according to Your word (Psalm 119:9 New American Standard Bible 1995).

Faith, Hope, and Love

Faith turns into hope, and hope turns into unconditional love, and unconditional love turns us into Christlikeness. And in doing so, we are blessed to share the love of Christ with others. We exercise our faith when we fully and completely trust God and His Word no matter what our circumstances may be. It is unwavering confidence in our relationship with God. This gives us great hope to press on in life when everything seems to be collapsing around us.

6 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him (Hebrews 11:6 New American Standard Bible 1995).

19 They will fight against you, but they will not overcome you, for I am with you to deliver you,” declares the Lord (Jeremiah 1:19 New American Standard Bible 1995).

1 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers (Psalm 1:1–3 New American Standard Bible 1995).

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1 New American Standard Bible 1995).

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me (John 14:6 New American Standard Bible 1995).

16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16 New American Standard Bible 1995).

1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1 New American Standard Bible 1995).

6 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6 New American Standard Bible 1995).

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, 26 so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word (Ephesians 5:25–26 New American Standard Bible 1995).

11 “Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me (Matthew 5:11 New American Standard Bible 1995).

9 The mind of man plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps (Proverbs 16:9 New American Standard Bible 1995).

Fear and Anxiety

Fear and anxiety are two powerful strongholds designed by Satan to control our lives. By constantly influencing our thinking and reactions to everyday life, we are being manipulated, which results in behaviors that keep us stuck in a state of unbelief and immaturity as a Christian and follower of Christ. Only by replacing any and all such thoughts with God’s Holy Word can we destroy stronghold and the negative impact they have on our lives.

27 Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful (John 14:27 New American Standard Bible 1995).

10 ‘Do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, surely I will help you,
Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ (Isaiah 41:10 New American Standard Bible 1995).

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things (Philippians 4:6–8 New American Standard Bible 1995).

7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you (John 15:7 New American Standard Bible 1995).

7 For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline (2 Timothy 1:7 New American Standard Bible 1995).

9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9 New American Standard Bible 1995).

18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. (1 John 4:18 New American Bible 1995).

Spiritual Warfare

Spiritual warfare is very real. It must be intentionally addressed if we are to mature in Christlikeness as Christians and, in doing so, position ourselves to fulfill our ministries for God’s Glory. To do otherwise, we are completely missing the boat! Satan and all his demons operate in the spiritual realm. And we as human beings tend to focus our attention on the earthly realm. This blinkered outlook hampers our walk with God. We cannot ignore something as important as spiritual warfare and expect our lives to just hum along. This affects everything, including our precious families, friends, and neighbors. Proactively anticipate Satan’s attacks today. Put on the Full Armor of God and never take it off!

8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8 New American Standard Bible 1995).

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, 4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. 5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:3–5 New American Standard Bible 1995).

16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves (Matthew 10:16 New American Standard Bible 1995).

7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you (James 4:7 New American Standard Bible 1995).

26 Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and do not give the devil an opportunity (Ephesians 4:26–27 New American Standard Bible 1995).

18 Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour (1 John 2:18 New American Standard Bible 1995).

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:10–11 New American Standard Bible 1995).

One Way to Memorize Scripture

Below is a simple example of how I taught myself to memorize Scripture. The first section presents the verses all together. The second section of verses is separated where it makes sense. This type of paragraphing makes it easier to learn.

6 Be anxious for nothing,
but in everything
by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving
let your requests be made known to God.
7 And the peace of God,
which surpasses all comprehension,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren,
whatever is true, whatever is honorable,
whatever is right, whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute,
if there is any excellence
and if anything worthy of praise,
dwell on these things (Philippians 4:6–8 New American Standard Bible 1995).

Each week I would memorize a new verse or passage while maintaining the verses I had already memorized.
Also, if you don’t already have a nightly accountability partner, I strongly encourage you to find a friend who is serious about growing in their faith as well.
We are praying for the body of Christ every day, all day! Keep asking yourself, “What would Jesus do?” If we are not growing in His likeness, how can we ever expect to fulfill our ministry for God’s Glory?

We’ll see you here, there, or in the air! Until then, press on, and keep pressing on!
